Recently we had the opportunity to be tourists for a few days in Hanoi, Vietnam. After the hustle and bustle of Hanoi, a boat ride on Hai Long Bay seemed so peaceful. The sharp rock faces and jutting rocks make for a stunning view.
We visited many temples and pagodas, as well as Ho Chi Min. When we went to Ho Chi Min's burial site, I didn't realize we would actually see him, but he is buried in a glass box and on display.
One night we went to see a water puppet theatre production, which Cameron was very excited about. Even though it was all in Vietnamese, it was interestingly done with traditional music and lots of action with dragons and small fireworks. Cam loved it. We met an American family sitting in front of us who had adopted a Vietnamese boy with Down Syndrome. He also loved the water puppet show.
Hanoi is a very interesting cultural city with a good dose of chaotic traffic, winding pathways and an abundance of vendors selling arts and crafts, fruits, snakes, fake anything, and bundles and bundles of roses.
Cobra wine, anyone? Or cobra with a twist of scorpion?
